I leave on Wednesday to go pick John up!!! On Wednesday night there is a social for the soldiers and their families to be able to spend time together and so that the families can meet the drill sergeants and the people that they've spent the past 16 weeks with. Then on Thursday is graduation and after that he will be free to leave with me!! Then we are taking a slight detour on our way home and stopping in TN for a couple of days of vacation. Thanks again for your prayers that past four months!!

. . . until I get to see John!! I am so excited!! We get to spend all of this coming weekend together.
Then he'll only have 45 more days to go until he comes home to me!!! I'm very excited. I just wanted to thank everyone for your prayers for us. That's what has gotten us through these past two months.
The picture to the left is John at this thing last weekend that his troop went to called Operation Fellowship. The one to the right is a picture I took of the platoon picture that the Army sent me. I took this close up so that it's easier to find John. He is in the 2nd row back and 2 over from the right!!
It was so nice to see pictures of him!! Have a good week!!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

John got to call for the second time this past Sunday, he got 6 minutes this time. So that was nice!! He's doing good for being in basic training. We found out that I will get to see him for three days in July during the family weekend that they get and that his graduation will be Sept. 6!!! So that was really exciting!! After this week, he should start getting more privileges, like more phone calls. So that will be nice and there is a slim possibility that after family weekend he will be able to keep his cell phone with him!!
Today is my birthday!! My family is here visiting so that was really nice!! My mom made a birthday dinner and cake for me and I got presents!!
The only thing missing was my husband!! :( But we did celebrate before he left. We went out to dinner and he gave me my birthday presents before he left too! And when I talked to him on Sunday he said that my birthday letter was in the mail!!!
I also wanted to take the time to say how proud I am of my husband for what he's doing (even though I miss him like crazy!!!)!!

John Called!!

John called yesterday afternoon!!!! It was the first time I'd heard from him since Thursday at noon. So it was good to talk to him, even though it was only for 2 minutes. He did find out that he gets done with in-processing and actually starts Basic on friday, May 18th, so that means that he'll be done by September 7th, which is what we were hoping for!! Also, he found out that there will be a family day after week 8, so that will be around July 13th. So I'll get to go visit him for a day!!
So now I may not hear from him for about 2 weeks. But then again, you never know, it just all depends on when his drill sergeant wants to let them call. But I should be getting a packet of information soon telling me the actual dates of family day and graduation and also giving me his address. So then I'll be able to send him letters. I already have a nice collection of letters ready to send, I just need an address.
So anyways, I was just excited to give an update to someone, so I thought I'd post it on here.

Well, John leaves in two days! :( I can't believe it is already time for him to go! We went to Virginia for the weekend last week juts to get away and spend a few days together. It was a lot of fun. I am taking off tomorrow afternoon and all day wednesday so that we can spend his last day and a half together.

I did find someone to live with me. I had kind of given up on finding someone to live with me this summer and had gotten myself prepared for that. However, a week ago, the camp director was telling me about a girl who is graduating from high this month and will be lifeguarding and will also be helping me in the snack shop and whereever else I need her to be. While he was telling me and Crystal (the other girl I work with in the office) about her, he and Crystal both at the same time said "Hey, she could live with you!" So, he talked to her parents and her about it and her parents seem to like the idea of her staying with me rather than in the dorm. So i now have a roommate. It was kind of sudden and if for some reason it didn't work out, her parents live 10 minutes away or she could move into the dorm. The camp director thinks that I will be a good mentor for her. I met her that same day, but I only talked to her for about 2 minutes.

So after all of that, I would like to ask you all to pray for a few things for us.

Pray for John as he will on a more intense schedule, that he would remain healthy and that God would protect him and keep him safe. Also, pray that he would have opportunities to witness and that he would be able to take a few minutes a day at least to read his Bible. Pray that he would get into a good platoon and that the guys with him would behave so that they don't all lose their calling priviledges when they do actually get them. Pray for me that I would be able to keep my mind off of John being gone and stay busy. Also, pray that I would be able to get along with and be a good mentor for this girl that will be staying with me.

Also, there is a girl here at ABC whose husband left 2 weeks ago for Iraq (he will be gone for over a year). My sister's boyfriend, who also attends ABC just left for training and will be going to Iraq in September (he will be gone until March). Then there is another guy who is leaving for basic training a week after John and his wife and their kids will be here as well (he will be gone until December - he is doing his officer training immediately following his Basic). I know that they would all appreciate your prayers as well. Pray that we would all remember "I can do all through Christ which strengtheneth me". Thank you for your prayers! Have a great day!

John leaves for Basic Training in 27 days!!! :( He will be gone until September!
We have a very busy month ahead of us though. John's parents are here visiting right now and tomorrow after they leave we are driving to Indiana to help my parents move in. Then on Monday I begin working at Alpine Camp (I will also continue at Bath & Body Works). The next weekend, John drills. The next weekend, we are going away for the weekend. Then we only have one weekend left before John leaves. Amidst all this we will both be working and John will be finishing up his last projects and papers and also taking exams early, not to mention making sure everything is taken care of before he leaves). So we would appreciate your prayers that God would give us strength as we go through this next month and that we would get everything done and have safety in all of our traveling and that God would prepare us for this summer!

Hey, I know I haven't written in awhile. But i just wanted to give an update of what is going on in our lives.
First of all, my dad preached a few times at a church in Indiana, they asked him to candidate, and after finding out a few things for sure, and a lot of thinking, he has decided to take the church, so they will be moving in April to Indiana. So pray for them concerning the move and the new church.
Second of all, John Basic Training date has been moved up. He now is leaving 21 days earlier than planned, and they changed his program, so he will be doing his Basic and AIT training all this summer, so he will be getting home about a month later than planned as well. Because of this, he will be able to start his officer training next summer rather than having to sit out a semester to do it, and also it will help us out more financially, and he will not be deployable until he finishes his officer training, which will be after he graduates from College. So that's nice!!
Anyways, that's about all that's going on here.
I hope everyone is doing well.

Well both of our cars are running now!! Praise the Lord!! We also got a new washer and drier last week!!! I am so excited!! I cannot stand going to the laundromat!!!! I've never been so excited to do laundry before!!
On a more serious note, I have a prayer request. I'd appreciate if you would prayer for my parents. My dad resigned his church yesterday. There have been sone things happening there that are not biblical. Through a series of events, God has showed my dad that his ministry in that church is over and that he should move on. My dad does not have another church yet or any kind of job, so please pray that God would provide financially for them. Pray also that God would lead them to where he wants to go and that they would stick with his timing. Right now, they are going to stay living where they are. My dad is preaching at a church in Indiana in a couple of weeks, so pray that it would go well. He is just filling in, but it could lead to something more. Also, my two youngest sister's are still at home (8 and 14). Charlena understands what is going on and why my dad made the decision he did, however, Chantel doesn't quite understand why they have to leave, all she knows is that she is having to leave her friends. So pray for them as they adjust. Last of all pray for the church. Pray that those that really do want to serve the Lord would realize that they may have to stand up or even separate themselves from the troublemakers before they can really serve God the way he wants. Pray also for those who I've referred to as troublemakers, that they would see their sin and seek forgiveness for it.
I appreciate your prayers. Have a great day!! Do not forget to pray for our president today (well not only today) on presidents day, he has ALOT on his plate.

When it Rains it Pours!!

The newest development in our lives is car trouble. Not that we haven't had it before, but it's usually a little more spread apart! :)
John's car has been needing a new axle for awhile now, and last week it got so bad that he couldn't drive it anymore, so he ordered the part and made plans to take it to the garage on campus monday and have it fixed. On friday we both got paid, so we decided to splurge and go out to eat. On our way home, we were going north bound through an intersection and a guy in a white truck headed south bound was turning left and didn't see us and ran right into us. Praise the Lord, I saw him coming and said something so John swerved and sped up to try to get out of his way, otherwise he would t-boned us and John's door rather than the back door would hvae gotten hit. Praise the Lord also that no one was hurt and the man was very apologetic. We've already talked to his insurance company and they are sending out an adjuster this week. The car is still drivable, but the back driver side door won't open and is pretty banged up.
So on Monday John took his car and got it fixed. However, on Tuesday he noticed that the started cylinder is going bad, because it takes a couple of turns of the key before anything happens. So he talked to the man at the garage and he said it should still last awhile, so it doesn't need to be fixed right away. So on top of all of this, I was on my way home from walmart this morning and the road coming out of walmart is pretty narrow and there is a sharp curve and there was a car on it's way into walmart and he must have thought he was going to hit the curb on his side because he was halfway in my lane and so I swerved a little so as not to hit him and instead hit the curb!! So half way home this loud noise starts and my sister says is that our car, and sure enough, I had made a nice big hole in my back tire!! But Praise the Lord, we made it home safely without bending the rim and John skipped chapel and came down and put the spare on and we went to walmart and had a new one put on.
So I guess I said all that to say that when it rains it pours!! The good thing is that God uses it as a chance to show us that he is still there for us, still taking care of us, keeping us safe, and providing for us, and that He still has things for us to learn, whether we understand at the time or not what those things are (as long we remember that He has a purpose for everything!). Anyways, I need to go get supper and get ready for church. I spent the afternoon making snowmen out of donuts for our "Jammies and Hot Cocoa" night for the kids at church. I hope everyone is doing well, it was good to hear from a few of you!!

It's been awhile . . .

The past month has been pretty busy. I've been working at least 40 hours a week at Bath and Body. But I don't have consistant hours there. So I may close one day and open the next, then by that night, I'm exhausted!
We had a good christmas. It was different not being with either of out families and there was no snow. But we started some new traditions. It was fun. Then the Friday after Christmas we drove 12 hours to my parents house and had another Christmas there (everyone except my brother was there). That was a lot of fun. We had to be back to work on Wednesday. So we drove through the night Tuesday night to come home. It was short, but really good to see my family.
Since we got back we've both been working quite a bit and John started classes last Wednesday. He is taking 15 credits this semester and he works 25-30 hours a week (one saturday a month), and he has drills one weekend a month. So he has a lot on his plate this semester.
A huge praise is that I only have $100 left on my school bill!! So after next month I'll be finished paying NBBC and I will finally get my diploma!!

Well I need to get some things done for a bullitan board at church, so I should get off of here and start working. Leave a comment if you get a chancec I'd love to hear from you!!

Almost Christmas!!!!

Well Thanksgiving has come and gone and Christmas is less than 2 weeks away!! I can not believe how fast time seems to be going. I have been working close to 40 hours a week at Bath Body Works. John has been in classes and working 25-30 hours a week. I just had an interveiw with the camp office here at Alpine Camp and got the job!! I will be starting as soon as the winter retreats begin. I will work part time doing the retreats and also tournaments (the camp is the host for any basketball/ volleyball tournaments that go on here at the college). In April I will begin full time in the camp office. They already have a full time secretary at the moment and they always hire a another for the summer. However, she will be leaving at the end of the summer b/c she and her husband will both be graduated, so then I will take over!! That was a huge blessing that it worked out!!
We had our first snow last Thursday!!! It was only an inch, but you have thought it would have been at least a foot!! Some schools were off and everything, which is weird because they get at least 3 good snows a year here. But the part that is different than the midwest is that it is mountainous here, so I'll have to get used to driving up and down pretty steep "hills" here in the snow!!
We are planning on going to my parents after Christmas. We will leave the 29th after work and come home on January 2nd. We had planned to go at the time because my brother was suppossed to get a 15 day leave and get home on the 28th. Well, he hurt his knee a few months ago on his ship while they were out to sea. He went to the Dr. a couple of weeks ago and found out that his ACL was torn and his MCL was stretched pretty thin. So he had to have surgery yesterday and they are putting him on a convelescent leave for 30 days which mean that he has to stay in Hawaii and can't come home!! However, there a few people that are over him that are going to see what they can do about getting him to be able to come home . . . so we'll see!! We're all praying for it!! His surgery went well. He is still in the hospital because of a few things that they want to keep an eye on. But it is kind of nice that he is staying for another night because the doctors are going to take better care of him than any of the guys in his barraks will. So if think about it, please pray for him as he is in a lot of pain and he will be starting physical therapy soon, also that he will get to come for a couple of weeks. This is his second knee surgery. He had the same thing done on his other knee in 2003 (I had the same surgery done on one of my knees in 2004). So at least he knows what going on and how to do things with only one leg in commission for the time being. But pray for parents also, they feel really bad that they can't be there with him to be able to help him out. . . we all feel bad about that. But God has worked some cool things out. A friend of my parents that they haven't really talked to in years called my dad the other day and said that he and his wife were in HI on vacation and that they wanted to get in touch with Isaac. So my dad explained what was going on and they were able to go see Isaac at the hospital before the surgery and pray with him and they are going to go back and visit him again tomorrow. Also, my parents neighbor's son works at the hospital the Isaac is in!!! So he has been going in and checking on in throughout the day. So that has helped put my parents (all of us) at ease because even though Isaac didn't know either of those guys, it is still a connection from home!!
Well this has gotten long enough. I think it is past my bedtime. I'm surprised that my internet stayed on long enough for me to write all of this, we've been having problems with it shutting down lately. Well I hope the everyone has a good week!! Bye!

I haven't written in awhile, so I thought I'd write and let you know what's going on here.
On the Job Front:
Well I had an interview at a Dr.'s office last week. I am waiting to hear back from them as to whether or not I got the job. Also, the camp office here on campus will be needing a new secretary next September, so I'm working on getting that. So I really just need to find a job to tide me over until then, if that works out. The bank finally called and said that they don't have anything for me now, but if I am still looking after the first of the year to give them a call and they may have something. I have been getting over 30 hrs/wk at Bath & Body Works though, so that is a huge blessing!! They know I need the hours, so they call me first whenever they need someone!! Like this week, I was only scheduled for 14 hours, and I've already worked 13, I work all day tomorrow and friday and maybe a few hours on Saturday!! So God is making sure that I get hours!!
On the School Front:
School is going well for John. Missions Conference was this week (it finished today), so they didn't have classes at all which was a nice break for him. Also, they had an evening service, which I was able to go to both nights. So that was nice.
On the Home Front:
We are looking forward to the holidays!! School gets out on friday the 17th, they get a week off for Thanksgiving. John drills that weekend. So we are planning on leaving Sunday afternoon when he gets home from drill to drive to his parents house in CT. But we have to leave on Thanksgiving (afternoon) to come home, b/c we both have to work the day after Thanksgiving - Black Friday!! But we will get to see the whole family!!
Then at Christmas time, we will actually be here for Christmas by ourselves. Then we will leave after work on the 29th to drive out to my parents in IL. My brother gets to come home from Hawaii for 15 days on leave (he's in the Navy), but he won't get home until the 28th. But that works out better for us b/c of our jobs and also for my sister Chandra and he job. So again we will get to see the whole family.
Well that is about all that is going on with us. So I hope that everyone is having a good week!!

Last Weekend

Well I haven't written in a week, so I thought I'd write and let you know how things are going.
Well last weekend was John's first drill for the NG. It was good. They did some conditioning, hiked a lot on Saturday . They also had a few classes on Saturday. On Sunday they had a Physical assessment to see how many sit ups and push ups they could do in a minute and also how long it took them to run a mile. Now they know where they are and what they need to work to. John did good, but he was pretty sore the next couple of days!!
Charity stayed at our house all weekend, we mostly just hung out and relaxed. On Saturday we went to the New River Gorge for Bridge Day. It was cool to watch, but it was very crowded!! We saw quite a few people parachute from the bridge. We took lots of pictures!!! We had to walk pretty far, because there was no close parking to begin with and we didn't get there until about 2 in the afternoon and it had started at 9. But that's ok we needed the exercise :)
I talked to John on the phone later that night and he said that he had heard that a guy had died that morning at the bridge because his parachute didn't open. So I looked it up online and it was a 66 yr. old man from California (people come from all over the place - I read that it is one of the biggest extreme sporting events in the world). It happened before we got there. But it is over an 850 feet jump. So the crowd on the bridge doesn't really know what is happening down below after everyone lands. So the crowd didn't know that he had died, that's why we hadn't heard about it while we were there. Another person was taken to the hospital in critical condition and there were a few other minor injuries. So that was that! It was really pretty out that day, the sun was shining and all the leaves were pretty much changed to reds, oranges, and yellows!
Charity and I went home after that and had Cincinnati Chili for supper (which we love!!!! even if you don't like chili, you might like this!!), then relaxed and watch TV & movies the rest of the night on our new Dish satellite (we just got it installed that morning!!). Anyways, that was our weekend. This week went by pretty fast. I got called in for about 8 extra hours at B&BW, so that was good. We had a Hobo Jamboree for the kids on Wednesday night at church! That was fun. I left a few messages this week for the lady from the bank that I was playing phone tag with last week. But she still has not gotten back to me, so I think she may have given the job to someone else. If that's the case, then I know it wasn't where God wanted me to work! A lady at church said that she was going to see if there were any openings at the Dental office where she works. So we'll see!! Anyway, I that's all for now!! Have a good weekend!

It's almost Friday!!

Well I just got home from the laundromat!! I cannot stand those places!! I hate the idea of doing my laundry where other people (that I do not know) are doing or have done their laundry!! I think it is disgusting. But I am weird like that and since I do not have a washer/ drier yet, I am thankful for the laundromat because our laundry has to be done!!

Well I have been getting called in to work quite a bit this week at Bath &Body, so that is a blessing. I was only scheduled for 13 hours and after tonight I will have 25 already for this week, plus I have a call in on Saturday, so I may get more hours then!! As far as jobs go, I can't remember if I've said anything about the bank job that I applied for. I have had two interveiws and have been waiting for them to call me and let me know if I got it or not. Well the vice president of the bank called me on tuesday but I was working so I missed her call. So I called her and got her voice mail and left her a message, then she called me again yesterday but again I was working. So I left her another message and let ehr know that I didn't during the day at all today and tomorrow. But she hasn't called back yet. So I'm hoping that she hasn't given up on me. Hopefully she'll call tomorrow.

John goes for his first drill this weekend for the National Guard. So my sister, Charity, is going to come down and stay with me. So we have some plans for our girls weekend!! Bridge Day is on Saturday, it is when a bunch of people jump off of the New River Bridge. So we are hoping to see part of that on Saturday.

Anyways, I think that is all that is going on right now and I need to go make supper because I have to work in an hour and 20 minutes!!

I took these pictures today. The one on the left was taken from our back porch and the one on the right was taken from our front porch. The leaves are changing quite nicely and the sun is shining bright. But don't let that fool you - it is freezing cold out today!! I know that it snowed in Illinois and Wisconsin already this week. But ever since we decided to move to West Virginia, I have been looking forward to mild winters!! It is not even winter yet, and it is so cold!! We also had frost on our cars this morning. So I think that today is the coldest day so far!! I know that I should be used to it after living in Wisconsin, Illinois, & Connecticut, but I'm not ready for the cold yet!! Oh-well, what can you do?!
Anyways, this weekend is Homecoming here at ABC. They invite the alumni to come back for the weekend. There were no classes today. There were about 6 different seminars that you could choose from which were being taught by alumni. They invited the spouses of the married students to come and had child care for those with children. So since I am not working full time yet, I got to go with John to a seminar at 8:30, and another one at 9:30, then chapel at 10:30. The first seminar we went to was Maintaining Family Purity in a Media Saturated Culture. The second one was Living on the Growing Edge. They were both very good. We both really liked the second one. It was about cultivating your personal growth and development as a leader. Some of the material was stuff that is a given, things that you learned in Sunday School. But it was excellent and very thought provoking.
If you think about it, please pray for my friend Carla, she flew out today. She is going to Myanmar and India on a missions trip. She went there in September '05 until March '06 (I think). She will be there until February. So please pray for, especially today and tomorrow as she is flying. I believe that it is a 30 hour flight.

Possible Job!!

John found an ad on the bullitan board at the school for a bank with a few openings. So I called them and went in and applied and I had an interveiw last friday with one of the managers. He tunred in my application and his notes from our interveiw to the vice president. Then I got a call from her today asking me to come in for a follow up interveiw. So I had that this afternoon. I will hear back from them by next wednesday as to whether or not I got the job!! So pray about that for me!! Also, pray that I'll be able to get a few days (where ever I end up getting a job) off at Thanksgiving and Christmas time. We are planning on going to CT for Thanksgiving so we can see Joey and Julie and then to my parents in IL at Christmas so that we can see my brother who will be home for a couple weeks.

Caught Up!

Well since I haven't seen most of you since John and I got married (or before), I just wanted to put the pictures up from the past year to let you see what has been going on in our lives. And, yes, Julie, I have had a lot of time on my hands :), so I've had time to make the slide shows and post them on here for you all to see. I will put a couple more on, so you can see our house here in WV.
Well tomorrow is my second day of training at Bath & Body Works - so we'll see how it goes. It is only a temporary job through the end of the holiday season. So we are praying that I'll find a good full time job by then. I am in the process of applying for a job at a bank. So we'll see how that goes. John is in his second week at the paint store. It is going good. He has been doing a lot of training, so it's been kind of boring, but once he is able to start working with the customers and making deliveries, it shouldn't be too bad.
We ate over at some of our friends house last friday night. They have two little girls, a three yr. old and a two yr. old. They were so excited to have us over!! They brought John and I up to see their room and got us to play dress up with them, so John was a cowboy (at first they couldn't find the cowboy hat, so they used a little girls Easter hat with a big pink bow on it, I did convince them to at least put the bow in the back:) and I was an angel, they had me wearing wings and the skirt part of a tutu!! They were princesses!! Their dad took some pictures, I'll try to get them so i can post them on here.
At church on Sunday, they had a little get together for all the college students in the afternoon, then after church that night they had us all stay for snacks to get to know the church people a little better. So that was nice. We met a lot of different people. We got to know the pastor and his wife a little better as well.

First Post

Well here is my first post. I started a blog shortly after we got married, but after a couple of months it only had about 3 posts. So I finally just deleted it. But now that I have internet at home, I think I will be able to keep up with it.
Well John and I are quite settled in to our new townhouse in West virginia. We are living in the married student housing right on the edge of campus. John has been in classes for almost a month now. He has also found a job. He is working for Sherwin Williams Paint Store, doing sales and few other things. He just started there this past Monday. He worked on campus with the mainteance crew, doing a lot of much needed landscaping around campus, until his job at Sherwin Williams started. It took them awhile to get everything ready for him to start. After about a month and a half of sending resumes and applying to all kinds of different places, I have yet to find a good full time job. I did though just land a part time job with Bath and Body Works. I start that tomorrow. I also have an interview today at a dentist office for a dental assistant position, which I think I would love!!
We have finally found a church to attend, which we are very happy about. We got pretty burned out in the search for the right church for us. But we like our new church so far and actually we are both getting a chance to be involved a little bit tonight with the children. they are having an Apple fest. The lady who heads this up lives right near us, her husband is part of the facualty here at the school. So we volunteered to help tonight and she said that she needed all kinds of help. So we are excited about getting involved in a children's ministry again. We worked with the Junior High youth group at our church in CT.
I think the biggest news that we have to share is that John swore into the West Virginia National Gaurd this past Saturday. We have been talking, thinking, and praying about this for awhile now. God used different things and people to show us that this was part of His plan for us. So John took his ASVAB on Friday and passed with a 67 (31 is passing). He then had his physical on Saturday and passed that as well. So around 1:00 I got to come and watch him swear in!! He goes for his first drill weekend (the armory is about 7 miles away) on October 21. He is in what they call a split program. He will begin doing his weekends right away. He will then go to Basic training in Fort Knox, KT on May 30th for nine weeks (we will not see each other at all during this time, so we aren't very thrilled about that, but hopefully it will go by fast and we know that God will be with both of us and get us through it). Then he will return home and continue to do his weekend drills. The following summer he will go to Fort Knox again for his AIT training (he will have weekends off and it is only 5 hours away, so we will be work out ways to see each other during this time, which we are very grateful for!!). After this he will continue to do his weekend drills. That is pretty much all there is to it. Although the National Gaurd is reserved for disasters here in the United States (such as 911, Katrina, etc.), there is a possibility that he could be deployed after he finishes his AIT training. But if that ever happens we will trust God, because He knows best!!
